Khan’s introduction Tamil film Silambattam was created by Lakshmi Movie Makers, and was discharged in December 2008. Silambarasan, the film’s lead performer, who had vainly attempted to sign her for a part in his film Kettavan, called her again for the female lead part in Silambattam subsequent to seeing her promotion with Shahrukh Khan. She said in a meeting with The Hindu, “Silambarasan came to Mumbai searching for a new face for his film Silambattam. There he saw me and chose me. I knew I needed to strive to become famous in the Tamil film industry”. Khan sees the film as her first break.She got laud for her depiction of a loquacious, tomboyish brahmin town young lady named Janu in the film, and won the 2009 ITFA Best New Actress Award in Singapore.
In March 2010, her next Tamil film, Thambikku Indha Ooru was discharged. Soon thereafter, Khan wandered into the Telugu film industry, showing up in Nandamuri Kalyan Ram’s Kalyanram Kathi, which was discharged in November 2010.
