Ittefaq box office collection day 1: Sonakshi Sinha-Sidharth Malhotra starrer murder mystery impresses
Ittefaq box office collection day 1: The film starring Sonakshi Sinha, Sidharth Malhotra and Akshaye Khanna is expected to earn Rs 3-4 crore on its first day. Directed by Abhay Chopra, the murder mystery is an adaptation of the 1969-film of the same name.
Ittefaq starring Sonakshi Sinha, Sidharth Malhotra and Akshaye Khanna has hit the theaters on November 3. Directed by Abhay Chopra, Ittefaq is a murder mystery that is adapted from a 1969-film of the same name. The film has not followed the excessive promotion strategy and is yet to be seen how it is going to affect the film’s box-office collections. It is being speculated that the film would garner a business of Rs 13 to 15 crore in the first weekend itself.
Earlier, trade analyst Girish Johar said about the film, “Ittefaq is a word-of-mouth film and they have promoted it very smartly. I feel it should open somewhere around Rs 3 or Rs 3.5 crore mark. It can also make Rs 4 crore. The trailer of the film has already garnered a lot of publicity and now if the content of the film turns out to be worthy, it is sure to make Rs 13 to Rs 15 crore or even more by the first weekend.”
The film is a whodunit thriller so the makers wanted to keep the suspense under wraps. Girish Johar added, “As an industry, we would really want fans to be mature and let everyone enjoy the experience of watching a film for the first time. I really hope that they pay heed to the request of all the actors who have advised their fans not to give spoilers. It will be beneficial for the industry overall, not just the production houses.”
Girish Johar also tweeted about the early trends of the film and Ittefaq stood at 15 percent.
Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta gave three stars to Ittefaq. “A good murder mystery leads you by the hand but doesn’t advertise its wares, takes care to keep it taut, and delivers a satisfactory payoff. Despite a few niggles, this brand new Ittefaq, which takes broad pointers from the 1969 original of the same name, manages to pull it off.”
