Crystal Castles‘ Ethan Kath is reportedly suing former vocalist Alice Glass for defamation over rape and assault allegations she recently made about her former bandmate.
In a statement posted online last week, Glass detailed her allegations against Kath, accusing the musician (real name Claudio Palmieri) of rape, physical assault, emotional manipulation and other forms of abuse dating back to when she was 15. Kath denied the allegations, describing them as “pure fiction”. Crystal Castles later cancelled all their forthcoming tour dates following the claims.

According to TMZ, Kath has now filed a defamation lawsuit against Glass, with the report saying that Kath claims Glass is “lying” and “still bitter about their break-up”. Kath also reportedly told the publication that Glass is “just trying to get attention to jumpstart her new musical venture”.
As a result of Glass’ allegations, Kath claims that the band have lost $300,000 in profits. The report also claims that Kath previously sent a cease and desist letter to Glass over prior allegations she made about him.

A new statement from Kath reads: “Alice and I had a long ongoing relationship both personal and professional. When she suddenly left Crystal Castles to handle her mental health issues and substance abuse issues I fully supported her. I will continue to support her quest to wellness but I can’t support extortion, false claims, and accusations put forth after the band attained new success without her. False allegations take away voice from true victims and that’s what saddens me most about all of this.”
